Cookie Policy

What is stored on your device when you use MaterialsMath, and how to say no to the optional parts.

What we use, and why

MaterialsMath is a static website. There is nothing to log into and no shopping cart, so the list of things stored on your device is short.

Strictly necessary

What Type Purpose Lasts
mm.project Browser session storage Remembers the room dimensions you typed, so the next calculator opens pre-filled Until you close the tab
mm_consent Cookie Remembers your answer to the consent notice, so you are not asked on every page 12 months

Neither of these identifies you, and the first one never leaves your device.

Analytics

Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to tell repeat visits from new ones and to group page views into sessions. We use it to see which calculators are worth expanding and which pages are not doing their job.

Analytics does not load until you accept it. The notice appears on your first visit and nothing from Google is requested or stored before you answer it. If you decline, no Google script is loaded at all — not a blocked one, not a cookieless one, none. If you accept and later change your mind, we delete the _ga cookies at the moment you withdraw.

Advertising

Where advertising is running, the ad network and its partners may set cookies to select ads, cap how often you see the same one, and measure whether ads worked. Where you have consented to personalised advertising, these may also be used to build an advertising profile.

Saying no

Through the consent notice. It appears on your first visit, before any non-essential cookie is set, and it is shown to everyone rather than only to visitors in regions that require it — working out where you are would mean calling a third party, which is exactly what we are trying to avoid before you have said yes. Accept and decline carry equal weight; there is no pre-ticked box and no hidden "reject" link. Declining leaves the site fully functional — every calculator works exactly the same. You can reopen the notice and change your answer at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.

Through your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either generally or per site. Blocking everything will stop the pre-fill between calculators from working; nothing else on this site will notice.

Through Google. Google's ad personalisation controls are at myadcenter.google.com, and the Analytics opt-out add-on is at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

What we do not do

  • We do not use cookies to identify you personally.
  • We do not sell data about you, because we do not have any.
  • We do not embed social media tracking pixels, live chat widgets or third-party fonts. The site loads no external resources at all beyond analytics and advertising.

Changes

Changing advertising partners changes the cookies involved, so this page is updated whenever that happens, and the date above changes with it.
